It is anybody's guess that the success or failure of any (such) initiative depends on how active or passive(!) the participation is. So, as a small baby-step to our blog, let us all do ourselves a favor.
Signing up for this blog obligates each one of you to create a new creative name for yourselves!
How about that for a start?!(some of us have already done so. Cheers to them!)
Apart from unwinding our imagination, however, this obligation also has a purpose:
One of the things that plagues indian science is this: "He/She (someone great) said so, therefore it can't be wrong!" If you look at it plainly as an outsider, you could reason how unscientific the above phrase sounds.
Most of us are intuned/rather distuned into thinking "who said what?". Now, this clearly serves no purpose unless you want to quote somebody in order to make your point. Or you want to attribute what is being said to the attributes of that particular person, which obviously takes you away from the argument!
Simply put, it distracts you from thinking about what is actually being said!
This ain't an attempt to whisk you away into thinking about good/bad science or indian/european science; or to argue who is doing good/bad science. In case you got me wrong, it is certainly not an attempt to undermine indian science or scientists. all of that is another argument for another day, possibly another blog!
This is simply an attempt to give you a thumbs-up on your newfound profile name for this blog!
So let's do it, shall we? Say, in about a week's time??
Well then, it's time to rock n roll! oops, do watch your baby-step...:)

Others who still want to keep their original names may continue to do so. there's no hard and fast rule..it's a science blog, for god's sake! (but it would certainly tell how bad this post is:((
